Mini Classes
We offer a variety of short classes covering myriad topics. These mini
courses are offered on an ad-hoc basis depending on the needs,
knowledge, and experience of the volunteers. All classes are taught in
spanish.
Introduction to Organic Agriculture - Learn how to farm in tune with the cycles of the moon.
Apiculture (BeeKeeping) Basics -
A short introduction to bee behavior, bee handling, honey harvesting,
and other bee related products (Royal Jelly, Bee Pollen, Beeswax,
and Propoly).
Natural Fertilizers and Soil Health-
Learn recipies for natural fertilizers like Biol, Effective
Microorganisms (EM), and Foccachi. Explore techniques for soil
amendments like rice hull ash and manure.
Basics of Bamboo Construction - Learn natural bulding techniques with a rapidly renewable resource.
Beneficial Insects, Pests and their control
- A discussion covering local beneficial insects, pest insects, and
effective organic insect control including repellent plants, natural
insectisides, and useful trapping mechanisms.
Lombriculture (Worm Beds) - How to use red wrigglers to make soil, process compost, and create humus.
Basics of Small Animal Hubandry - Small livestock, how to take care of them, and their role in the bigger picture. Guinea pigs, goats chickens, and pigs.
Ecological Farm Desig-n - How to set up a farm to achieve a dynamic equilibrium between all components. Includes elements of permaculture design.
