How do I get there?
To get to the farm, you will arrive
by bus (or taxi) to Calceta, and then you will hop on a Camioneta
(Shared pickup truck - $0.50) to get to Sarampión. You can also
take a cab to the farm from Calceta ($5.00).
Busses From Quito: The Reina Del Camino bus company in Quito has direct
busses to Portoviejo that pass through Calceta. There is an
ejecutivo (air conditioned with a bathroom) overnight bus that leaves
from the mariscal Reina Del Camino office at 11:30 pm. This bus
will usually arrive in Calceta between 5:30 and 6:30 am. There are also
busses that run during the day that are about 7-8 hours, but these may
put you into Calceta after the camioneta service stops running, and
will then need to take a cab - tell the cab driver "Sarampión,
Finca de Servio Pachard".
If you are cominig from any other direction, there are frequent bus
service during the day (until about 6:30) between Calceta and Chone,
Portoviejo, and Bahia de Caraquez.
Once in Calceta: The Camioneta service runs from about 6:30 am until
6:30 pm from a Brown and yellow corner store indicated at number 8 on
the map below (click for a larger version of the map or camioneta stop
). The camionetas typically leave for Sarampion when there is
enough passengers to make the trip.
